Unitarian Universalist
Church of the Hill Country
Sunday Service @10am 960 Barnett St., Kerrville Texas
Community Outreach / Social Justice
UUCHC is a small but mighty congregation of community activists: almost all of our 60 members and friends are members of or actively involved in 37 different organizations and non- profits here…Hill Country Crisis Council, Families & Literacy, Raphael Free Clinic, Friends of the Library, League of Women Voters, Humane Society and Freeman-Fritts Animal Shelters.
We are precinct chairs, voter registrars, poll workers. We prepare backpacks for refugees and help them through the airport/bus station. We sing in the Chorale; create art for the Kerrville Art & Culture Center.
UUCHC members Mike and Karen Burkett are the founders of Kerr Konnect, Kerrville’s first successful all-volunteer transportation service. Multiple members of our congregation now either drive or are on the office staff for Kerr Konnect!
UUCHC teams always participate in the Upper Guadalupe River Authority’s annual River Clean-up. We often participate in local rallies supporting women’s/reproductive rights, civil/LGBTQ rights, voting rights and against censorship.
Nationally and statewide, we are members of the UUA’s Standing on the Side of Love movement and the TX Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry (TXUUJM) activities.
As a former Kerrville mayor once said, “You UUs are EVERYWHERE there’s work for good to be done!”
